After 7 Months Abroad, I’m Going Home

Just for a visit though. JUST FOR A VISIT. It seems like a couple of weeks ago I was packing up my house, getting rid of things, saying good-bye and moving my life across the pond to Germany. Yet, it was seven months ago and here I am going to Canada for a two week visit. I know it will be nice to see my family and friends (and I am sure they are excited to see me too), but for me, it still feels like I just left. And I don’t know if I am ready to go back. At least I know I am not ready to go permanently back.  A two week vacation though will pleasant. Plus, I can sort out some of my things there and transport more across to Berlin!

There are a few things that I have definitely missed though while abroad and I cannot wait to see/do/eat though!

Yes I know I can do it here, but still, I need to get my snowboard and bring it back with me. Plus, it will be nice to have the ski resort only 40 minutes away from my house instead of a day journey away.

MOUNTAINS. I cannot express how much I miss the mountains. Berlin is pretty flat, so if I want to go for a good, steep hike– I am going pretty far for it.

Caeser drinks

I think having a Caeser on Sunday is key for any Canadian. And for the first five months here, I was deprived of it. But luckily to one smart cookie I met, I have Caesers in the past couple months. Still will be great to have one on Sunday though in Canada.

Home Cooking

One thing I definitely miss is having somewhere to go where there is a home cooked meal (mom’s, grandma’s, friends parents’). Of course I can cook and my roommate does a pretty damn good job of it too, but there is still something about going ‘home’ for a good meal.

Drinks with the ‘gang’

Miss you all!
