A New Year Means New Journeys

A new year means new journeys. A new year is the time to say good-bye to the past and hello to the future. It's a time to take forward what we have learnt and go into the unknown and do better.

As 2014 comes to an end, I am more than happy to say good-bye to the past and hello to a new year. The past year has been a hectic one. I moved provinces, switched jobs, said good-bye to a lot of people and welcomed new ones into my life. I have had days where I felt on top of the world and days where I have felt beaten down. As the year draws to a close, I'd like to take a look back on my highlights of 2014 and the lessons learned.

Started off the New Year with a bang and fled to Belize for some fun in the sun with my sister.
Headed to the Rockies and explored hidden caves. Finished my Spanish studies at the University of Alberta. Realized it’s never too old to learn a new skill or try something new.
Said good-bye to friends, colleagues, and Alberta and moved back to British Columbia.
Packed my bags and flew half way around the world to sample wines in Spain with some new friends.
Made a major decision and decided to take on life solo. Learnt that it’s okay to say good-bye and move on.
Saw my best friend/cousin say “I do” to the man of her dreams.
Celebrated my 27th birthday in Yosemite National Park, hiking the Sierra Nevada mountains with strangers/new friends. Learnt that it doesn’t matter what other people think of you, it matters what you think of you.
Went south of the border and took in some rock concerts with friends.
Challenged myself at work, in sports, and in relationships. Found out that it’s alright to ask for help.
Stuck a little closer to home and enjoyed quality time with loved ones.

So good-bye 2014. Adios, ciao, au revoir, auf wiedersehen, adjö. Thanks for another year down in the books. I’m ready for you 2015.
